Studio Sessions!

I have been meaning to write this blog for a little while, I've touched on studio sessions before in my blogs but now I have my brand new studio space I think it's time for a new blog! (A bit late I know as I moved to the new space in July!)

(Please click play to view my studio video!)

Whether you are about to welcome your new baby into the world or you're overdue an update on family photos, a studio session is a perfect way to capture this moment right now on your journey. Maternity sessions, newborn shoots, family photoshoots, I welcome all ages into my photography studio. Even your furbabies are welcome to join in! (We can't leave out the family pets!)

Typically I book maternity and newborn sessions after your 20 week scan because as you know babies arrivals can be very unpredictable and I need to limit the amount of arrivals I have each week. If you are past this point in your pregnancy or even if your baby has already arrived please don't panic. I limit my bookings in case all my newborns arrive at the same time, but more often than not they don't so I can usually accommodate one or two last minute bookings each month.

For all other sessions I recommend booking as soon as you can however they don't need to be booked quite as far in advance as new babies because we aren't working within the 'newborn timeframe'.

When you book in for your photoshoot I will send you a questionnaire to find out a little bit about you and your family. This can help me interact with your children/you and find out exactly what you're looking to achieve during the session. Things to think about are what colours you have in your home and where you are going to display your photographs as well as outfit choices to complement each other. Any questions you might have before during or after your session, I'm all ears!

During your photoshoot the time you are with me in the studio depends on the type of shoot, my mini sessions are what they say on the tin. Mini. A little insight to what a full shoot is and only available at certain times of year. Maternity sessions, sitter, cake smash and family sessions are typically about 45 minutes to an hour long and newborn sessions can vary from two to three hours depending on your babies routine that day.

My studio is comfy and warm, your welcome to have a drink or a snack and relax! I've designed it to feel homely and comfortable so you look relaxed and at home in your photographs. There are no passers by looking in at you and I work by an appointment only basis so there are no interruptions!

Whilst I am taking your photographs I absolutely love it when parents get involved, sing, dance, pull funny faces behind me, do whatever you need to do for smiles! And if that's just not you, then that's fine, I'm also totally happy being silly and getting your little ones smiling! The same goes for any ideas you have, if you have a couple of things you would like then let me know! I can incorporate items from home, wedding dresses, sentimental items and much more.

After your photoshoot we will schedule a time for your viewing appointment, this is about 45 minutes to an hour long and dedicated to getting your perfect choices just right! It's important to bring anyone else with you that has an input on the decision (even if they don't really!). My studio is filled with beautiful wall art that you can look at, hold and imagine hanging in your home so it's important to have an idea of where you are going to display your photos before you come back to view them. When you arrive you can get comfy and look through all of the memories we have captured and documented together and decide how you want to display them at home to tell your life story. And that's a pretty special decision in my opinion!
